Mumbo Jumbo

 Nature
As I wander from this computer to refill my coffee
cup I glance outside at the yellow leaves and the way
the sunshine intensifies the yellow glow scattered
throughout my yard. I wonder why God decided
to have green be the color of summer... and yellow,
red and orange to be the colors of autumn.
Sure, the green looks clean and full of life but the
hues of autumn are breathtaking. It’s as though
God flicks a paintbrush bigger than life and treats
us to these colors that last just a few short weeks
every year.

Men and Eggs and the Week of Omelets
As most of you know, Jeff has been off work
all week for bronchitis. He has to eat breakfast
prior to taking massive amounts of antibiotics and
steroids. Knowing full well that getting one cooked
meal out of me each day is nearly impossible, he
decided to make omelets every morning this week.
Something about a man and eggs…..it was brought
to my attention by a dear friend that men seem to
have it “going on” when it comes to making eggs.
Mine does! Hmmm… bacon bits and cheddar cheese
and perfectly cooked omelets every morning this week!
He’s been bringing me a little corner of his omelet as
I sit---yeah you guessed it---right here!

Disco Duck
While in the car yesterday listening to the radio,
a blast from the past interrupted my thoughts.
Yup….the horrendous song Disco Duck. What
thoughts went through the writers minds? Did
it make any money? Were the singer(s) scarred
for life? I got bad vibes when I listened to it.
I’m thinking my brother forced me to listen to
it time and time again.

When all else fails blame it on the Duck!!!

Children
I have 3 children as stated in my profile.
Nate is a senior at Bowling Green OH and is
finishing up with his studies for a degree in
Sports Management. He started reading the
newspaper’s sports section around the age of
5 and could speak intelligently with adults
about sports by the age of 7. He’s seeking out
a golf internship in a warm climate this June.
That means he’ll be moving even further away
from me. I’m not ready for this. Did I do the
“parent” thing right? Did I have enough time
to instill the qualities in him that I admire in
people?

Maybe we get more than just a couple decades.
I sure hope so!

Sara is my sunshine and she's beautiful. She’s
in her second year at OSU. Go BUCKS!!
She is pursuing a degree in the medical field
and plans on being an Occupational Therapist.
She an awesome artist and tosses around the
idea of Art Therapy also. She is so much like
me it’s scary! She is growing and seeing the
world around her. She is a strong girl but
she’s still my baby. I want to keep her safe.
I want no sadness to enter her life. I know I can’t
do that but I can hope.

If a guy ever hurts her and I find out….look out!
Sara’s mama is gonna find ya!

Luke is my step-son. Jeff was granted full custody
after nearly a 4 year battle. Jeff was the first man
in our county to get full custody without being married
to the mother. I didn’t know Jeff during this time in his
life. I entered Luke’s life before he turned 4. It’s been
tough. Luke hasn’t had any breaks but has finally
latched on to something he loves. FOOTBALL! He had
a great season 8-2 for his junior year. As most of you
know, I know very little about football but I do know that
he is GOOD at this game. He’s hoping to be in the
All-Star game his last year of high school.

Wouldn’t that be great?

    Jules,

Yup, guys can cook eggs... Matt, my son, can make much better scrambled eggs than I can. ummmmm

Sounds like you have 3 wonderful children who know exactly what they want out of life.

Matt has decided that when he graduates high school next spring that he's joining the military and go into civil engineering. I am behind him 110%. I'm so thankful that he knows what he wants to do.
