"Tony said he wanted to visit with me in the prisons, and I said, 'Who is this, really?' because no coach had ever visited in the prisons with me."

Pastor Ken Johnson, chaplain for the Indianapolis Colts, just couldn't believe that coach Tony Dungy was for real. After first meeting the coach, Johnson said: "Tony said he wanted to visit with me in the prisons, and I said, 'Who is this, really?' because no coach had ever visited in the prisons with me."
"The first time he called me to his office, he asked me to pray for him and bless his office that God would be honored," Johnson adds. "He is the real deal. He is going to respect everyone, but he is going to do everything in his power to be a Christ-like person."
A report in Baptist Press News notes that since Dungy was hired by the Colts in 2002, he has joined with Johnson to form one of the most active and public Christian ministries in the coaching profession. In just one example of the lengths to which Johnsons is willing to go for his players, the report says he once paid a cover charge at an Indianapolis strip club to retrieve a Colts player who was inside. "I just told him he was better than this and he needed to come with me," said Johnson.
In conclusion, Johnson is quoted as saying: "In all things give Him glory — win, lose or tie — and that's what Tony has done."

Nah....I don't "do" sports and anyone who knows me knows that-- but I probably will shuffle through the livingroom a few times during the game today. I may even sit down and watch the commercials. If it turns into a nail biting evening I just might snuggle in with Jeff for a few minutes as long as he doesn't scream to loudly over the game---cats have been known to scurry and dogs lower their ears when Jeff gets hyped up for a game.
I need to put my smile toward Coach Dungy just because of what he stands for....his principals and he's not afraid to be bold. We all have our opinions and our reasons. Many of you know the history of both teams. Many of you know the intimate details and stats of both teams. Many of you just plain don't want that OTHER team to win!
If Coach Dungy works with his team as well as he expresses his love for our God, I think he might just be onto something.
Well, well, well.....check this out! Thanks to YouTube for offering videos of both!
Equal time for Coach Smith!
I'm impressed with both of these coaches. So...may the best team win.
May it be all for Him!
Hugs, Happiness and Harmony,
Julie
