Strawberries! (a Manic Monday post)

So it was early this morning and the dew was still on the ground. The impending heat of the day hadn't reached me just yet. I glanced over to the glorious strawberry patch. Just ten plants stuck in the ground merely one year ago and I have berries? How wonderful!



I return to the kitchen because I can already see that I'll need something to put my goods in while continuing to pick. The plants are abundant with the fleshly fruit. I continue picking berry after berry as the sun caresses my bare shoulders reminding me of the heat that will blast me later in the day.

I wander along the single row stooping down and lifting up each leaf wondering if it will hold a surprise for me. The berries that are not quite red enough I flip over and place the greener side on a leaf so nature can do its thing.

Strawberry shortcake is a delight!

Strawberry pie with fresh whipped creams is fabulous!


Homemade strawberry ice cream anyone?


And please don't forget the indulgent chocolate covered strawberry!

I can't wait till tomorrow when I get to pick some more!
