Julie Sees ROME

Okay....finally I have a few minutes to share ITALY with you! I'll start with Rome.

These first two pictures are the breakfast buffet that we enjoyed! The hotel was fabulous and so was the food!
We even had chocolate for FREE set by the coffee pot and the bottled water and all sorts of cool goodies in the room! The fridge was stocked but wasn't free. (Bummer) Definitely the most extravagant place I had ever stayed!

The pictures at the Trevi fountain didn't show because it was dark...there were "gypsie" all around and one rushed me with a bouquet of roses "for free, for free" he kept saying. Once I touched them he wanted money! What a jerk...oh well I got four roses for about a buck and a half...not too bad.

This picture is just a typical view all over Rome.....the history that this city encompasses is amazing! We had a fabulous tour guide. I now know why all our tour guides were thin! They walked our legs off! Sheesh....I thought I was in shape too!

We were in so many churches and museums and it's hard to remember where we saw what..you know what I mean. Total and complete overload!! I picked up a book to help me remember and this picture was taken at St. Peter's Basilica...done by Michelangelo. It depicts Mary cradling Jesus as He is taken from the cross.

Also in Vatican City....beautiful architecture! This was outside. The building are so close together. When we entered the city it wasn't ornate...nothing spectacular but as the morning progressed and we exited...that was when the oohs and ahhs began!

This is St. Peter's Basilica as seen through the window of one of the museums in the Vatican.

Oh, check out this little car! They were all over the place. You should see how they park in this city too! I would NOT want to drive around here. At one point I thought our big tour bus was going to roll on top of one of these little guys!

Back to the pretty stuff now....this picture was taken on the way to the Sistine Chapel. There were many areas where you weren't allowed to take pictures and the Sistine was one of them. I wasn't about to get ousted! All I wanted to do was to lay down on the beautiful marble floor and study the ceiling and do all I could do to feel what Michelangelo must have felt. It was breathtaking, my friends. I saw the Gallery of Tapestries, Geographical Maps and so many lovely creations made so, so long ago.

The Vatican...if you double click you can see the center balcony...between the pillars is where the Pope comes out. I'm not Catholic but this was even exciting.

Woooo the Coliseum! Now THIS was amazing...the games that took place here! Can you imagine? The history of this city...something I never thought would be interesting was made interesting by our fabulous tour guide. The pictures I took just don't do it justice. It was a sight to behold.

Okay...the next leg on this journey will be Florence and SARA!!!

Hugs, Happiness and Harmony!
Julie
