OUT WITH OLD and........

The above song is from one of my favorite singers….a song about life and one of his rants about being a better person. I hope you enjoy!

The following is a little tidbit written by Paul Faulkner and I hope that it touches you in a way to make you a better person for the New Year.

The Freshness of Forgiveness

Some folks say, "I can forgive, but I can't forget." But according to
Henry Ward Beecher, that's only another way of saying "I will not
forgive you."

He thought forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note, torn in two,
burned up so that it could never be shown against anyone again. You
might still retain a memory of it, but you would never use it as a
threat. Like something erased on a computer, the memory is there, but
the access to it is gone.

There is nothing quite as fresh.

Jesus was very specific about forgiveness. He said we will be forgiven
with the same measure we forgive. Paul urged us to be tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us. When
God forgives, he's not going to go back and bring it up again.

There is nothing quite as fresh as the full feeling of forgiveness --
both when that forgiveness is received and also when it is shared.
Let's not carry any of the old junk into the New Year. Let's forgive
and let the past be gone!

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also
will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14-15
RSV).

Another thing to remember about this forgive and forget thing…..forget doesn’t mean the failure to remember. We can’t MAKE ourselves forget…it means to no longer be influenced or affected by. Hmmm… something I hope you’ll ponder. Truly considering this and working real diligently, I have a promise that I WILL be a better person. And this promise comes from the only influence that will not go back on His word!

Hugs, Happiness and Harmony,

Julie

Great song. And the rant is just as valid today as it was when he ranted so many years ago.

    Isn't that a shame?

I have had to forgive many people over the years, but forgetting it easier said than done.

    Happy New Year!
