Summer Ends

I apologize to all for not visiting the blogosphere much lately. I've been very busy getting Sara off to Italy and then at the last minute I decided to do the unmentionable. Yup I did it! I threw together a yard sale. So here I sit Sunday morning my body screaming at me for not letting it rest and my mind so full of thoughts of what my Sara Sunshine is experiencing right now thousands of miles away.

I offer a smattering of pictures to validate my shutterbug fun.

Summer in the Park

This picture is taken from Tuscora Park just a couple of blocks from our house. One of very few in the nation with a carousel of wooden horses. The park celebrated it's 100th anniversary this year. Oh! Our house is 100 years old this year too!

Darn! I thought I got close enough to see the details of the horses. Oh well....if you're really interested google Tuscora Park and look for the National Association of Carousels. I can't get the hyper link feature to work properly. WOW! This park is really famous! This site is very interesting and the pictures are detailed exquisitely!

This picture is the Ferris Wheel and last summer some kids fell from one of the compartments--it was an awful time for our little community. The park shut the ride down until the investigation was over and it was deemed that rambunctious play on the part of the children was what caused it. I'm not sure...the children were only 4 and 7 I think. I think an adult should have been with them as it does go up very high. I'm not afraid of heights--not really---and this is high.

Well....I'm getting sidetracked again as I google Tuscora Park. WOW! Page after page of listings!

Above is the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra and their annual Labor Day performance. This is an annual event for our family. Though the people who go to see the performance may vary...Grandma, Mom and I are ALWAYS there. Sara joined us this time. Maybe it was just for the supper and then ice cream during intermission or maybe it was because she was going to miss us. Every Sunday at 7pm there is a concert in the park sponsored by area businesses and offered to the community for free. Each summer shares a vast array of talent some local but most from out of the area. I can hear the music at my place and it always brings out hundreds if not thousands of concert goers.

We are so blessed to have Eric Benjamin conduct this orchestra. The man is multi talented and even though he moved to Massachusetts (I think) he still holds his baton to coordinate our orchestra. He makes classical music such an enjoyable experience.

There you go...isn't he just precious? Yup....I got sidetracked after I googled Tuscarawas Philharmonic too! Sheesh....**looks at clock**.....okay, off to more fun!

Sara Go Bye-bye

So last Tuesday mom and I took Sara to the Pittsburgh airport for her flight to Florence Italy--via Philadelphia PA ....via Munich Germany....what a time that must have been! Here are some pictures I took for that day.

For those of you who know me know that whenever "Us Girls" get together we will find fun anywhere. During the trip to the airport there was so much laughter in the car and of course picture taking! Check out this bridge! It's somewhere between the border of OH and WV or WV and PA...yeah we were having too much fun to pay too much attention. Aren't bridges too cool?

Awww that came out real good as we were whipping past didn't it? I was chastised by mom to "put that camera away and help me!" It was a little confusing once we arrived at the airport but we figured it out and then set out walking trying to find out where to go next.

Sara with everything she'll need for *gulp* FOUR MONTHS?

Well of course I was carrying stuff too....but no one wanted to take my picture!

Oh YAY! Let's go on one of these stepless escalators! Wooo! Wouldn't it be awesome if we always walked this fast! Yeah guys...I don't go to airports much. Well let's face it--I don't get out of the county much!

Baggage check in....she had less then 75 pounds total in those two big bags.

Aww...she put her arm around and squeezed a little!

Awww and even a little closer now! Woooo!!! Yeah I think she's gonna miss me!

A ticket and a snack and she is ready to fly into the adventure of her young life.

Passport please!

"Take your shoes off and empty everything into these gray bins."

Then she was too far from sight so this was the last picture till she sent me some from Italy....but that's for another post!

Garage Sale 2007

I wonder if I threw this garage together to keep extra busy...perhaps thinking that total exhaustion would keep me from missing Sara...

I decided that our camping years were over and asked a neighbor if he would pitch our tents so people would be able to see what they really looked like. Our old fuddy duddy neighbors probably thought we were having a bunch of campers! We had four tents and I think they all sold...

Oh the precious mega mug of coffee as the sun starts to hit the east side of the house.

JUNK that brought us several hundred bucks! Wooo!!!

The couch! The things this couch has seen! Purchased in the '70's ....obviously! A sweet young couple bought it to put in their pool room. They'll have to use their cue sticks to get out of the couch! It's sooooo comfy! I think the couch will like it with them.

Okay y'all! That's it...time to read some blogs...post some comments....get some housework done....I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Please return for some beautiful pictures of Italy from Sara!

Hugs, Happiness and Harmony!
Julie

I've flown in and out of that airport a few times.. and some of them were great!

I'm impressed at her ability to pack enough stuff for 4 months in that luggage... wow... or is one of them just for shoes?

I'll never get my act together long enough for a garage sale... and man do I have stuff for a garage sale...

    Hugs

    (LOVED the carousel BTW)

Garage sales are a lot of work.

That couch is a hoot. I look back at old pictures of stuff we used to own and wonder, "What were we thinking!"
